BUTTERFLY PHENOMENON

IMG_0224

Where I live in Noosa on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, we were inundated with millions of beautiful, bright blue butterflies. It is believed this phenomenon is linked with the breaking of the drought and a migration south.

In my twenty years of living in Noosa, I have never witnessed such an event. For me, it felt like something more. I felt a peacefulness surrounding their presence and a connection to something far greater than myself. Was it just a mere coincidence that this took place at the same time we were sent into isolation and with the loss of so much life across the globe? I felt, a spiritual significance. A symbolism for the many that had lost their lives, and in a sense, acquiring their wings, akin to a butterfly.
